ARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS: 1923-1937 The San Francisco Stock Exchange and other buildings from the San Francisco Firm of Timothy Pflueger June 5 - July 26, 2003 PRESS RELEASE |
These original renderings comprising this exhibition were created under the auspices of the premier architectural firm eventually known as Pflueger Architects. The PTT Building, 450 Sutter, the Paramount Theater, the San Francisco Stock Exchange Building, and the Bay Bridge are many of the structures for which this firm is so noted. The renderings included in the current exhibition are quick study sketches of skyscrapers drawn by architect Michael Arthur Goodman in 1923. Numerous renderings of the San Francisco Stock Exchange Building and studies of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge center anchorage are also featured. These renderings are important for their historical reference. Additionally, in our time of computerized architectural schematics, the inventiveness and beauty of these drawings from the 1920's and 1930's can now be truly appreciated. |
