Much of what makes Deborah Oropallo's recent paintings so satisfying is the way she seamlessly addresses youthful dreams and the adult weariness in a single, sophisticated swoop. "Replica" is a fitting title for her recent works in which she casts tiny toys in mature roles and, in the process, opens up a complex dialog about image-making in a digitally-enhanced era where the documentary is difficult to distinguish from the fabricated.
